SLJ’s Kathy Ishizuka Promoted to Executive Editor, Technology and Digital Projects

Kathy Ishisuka, Executive EditorKathy Ishizuka has been named executive editor, technology and digital projects for School Library Journal. The announcement was made Tuesday by SLJ Editor-in-Chief Rebecca T. Miller.

”Our profession needs keen editors like Kathy,” said Miller. “This new role is designed to allow her to continue to lead top-notch tech coverage across our publishing platforms as well as to draw on her creativity to connect the dots between education and libraries’ role in delivering the best possible outcome to our kids and our communities.”

Ishizuka has served as technology editor since 2004. “During her tenure, she has illustrated both deep insight into the field we cover as well as innovative thinking about how to reach our audience in meaningful new ways,” Miller said.

Ishizuka’s promotion formalizes her responsibility to develop SLJ’s presence on The Digital Shift, the online home for all technology-related content from SLJ and sister publication Library Journal.

She’ll also create and manage SLJ’s digital projects, including crafting its social media strategy, managing its network of blogs, and initiating external partnerships that foster new content channels and help build stronger libraries.

Ishizuka (@kishizuka on Twitter) is the mother of two teenage sons. She has worked as a freelance writer and book editor before coming to SLJ.
