Recovered! The following files are what remains from a trove of readings School Library Journal recorded for Poetry Month a few years back. Much of our multimedia was lost in the transition to a new CMS. Let this be a lesson to back up, which fortunately in this case we did, to a personal storage device.
Award-winning author Walter Dean Myers (pictured) came to our offices to record our first podcast. The National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, Myers will deliver the keynote presentation at SLJ‘s Day of Dialog on June 4.

I’m glad you recovered these files. They are all great readings. Walter Dean Myers has a smooth voice that reads with authority, great for reading to children. J. Patrick Lewis has some fun poems I’m sure children love, and a voice perfect for it too. The graphics in Hoop Queen bring the poem to life, read very entertainingly by Charles R. Smith. Finally, the Science Verse nursery rhymes by Jon Scieszka are hilarious. I’m sure kids can really get into those.
