Popcorn Maker, a tool for enhancing and remixing Web video from Mozilla, holds a lot of potential for educators, according to Linda W. Braun. The library consultant and educator, who created an earlier tutorial on make-your-own infographics, takes the free, browser-based application for a spin in the following screencast.
In addition to providing an exciting new option for student book reviews, to name one idea, Popcorn Maker could help librarians curate content. With a drag-and-drop interface, users can annotate video, pulling in Wikipedia content, images, and Google Maps. Completed Popcorn Maker projects can be shared and embedded in a blog or other Web page.
“For school and public librarians, teachers, and parents who work with kids and teens, there are a lot of possibilities,” says Braun.
Great review of a very cool tool. I can see many instances where this might be useful.
Very useful material, very clearly presented. I see many uses for teachers and children.
