SirsiDynix Names New Director of Product Management

From

Library automation company SirsiDynix announced yesterday that it has hired Ranny Lacanienta as its new director of product management, who will oversee the company’s integrated library system (ILS) product strategy. SirsiDynix released the latest version of its flagship ILS, Symphony 3.4, in December 2010.

He formerly led the Technical Services Systems and Content Database Department at the Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University (BYU), Provo, UT, where he worked for more than 20 years, and which has used a SirsiDynix ILS since 1998. SirsiDynix is also headquartered in Provo.

Lacanienta served as executive secretary and webmaster of the Utah Library Association for several years, and as a member of the American Library Association. He holds an MLIS from Syracuse University, NY, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from BYU.

The announcement of Lacanienta’s hire came ten days after the company promoted its COO, Bill Davison, to CEO.
