Link: Meet Marshall McLuhan-Futurist via WNYC’s Fishko Files

How did a relatively obscure Canadian professor,  Marshall McLuhan,  rise to pop culture stardom in the 1960s?

In honor of the McLuhan centenary next week, WNYC/New York Public Radio commentator Sara Fishko takes us back to McLuhan’s futuristic thoughts.

As I listened to this I was struck by just how visionary he really was.

The Global Village. Alienation. Connection. All were considered by McLuhan.

What would he think of Facebook? Twitter? Google+?

Interest piqued? You can listen in and decide for yourself…

The show site also include numerous interviews and profiles of McLuhan from the WNYC archives.
