"Apps for Library Idea Challenge" Idea Submission to Close Soon

Previously I had posted about Elsevier’s “Apps for Library Idea Challenge” contest. I am one of the judges. Basically, all you need to do to enter is to suggest an application for the SciVerse platform your or your user’s workflow while using SciVerse. Unlike many other software contest, this is one only of ideas, so you don’t need to know how to write code.
We already have a number of submissions, but we can always use more and the deadline is approaching. To recap:
  • Submission period ends on Sep 2nd
  • 10 finalists are selected by the judges to post on the site on Sep 26th
  • Users may comment on the finalists until Oct 14th
  • Users and judges may vote for their favorites between Oct 17th and 28th
  • Winners will be announced in November

If you’re intrigued, you might find this interview with Max Berenstein, the SciVerse Applications Product Manager, useful. In the interview with Against the Grain, Max provides additional information and background on why this contest is structured the way it is. Consider playing along, either by submitting an idea or commenting on them after they are revealed. I’ll let you know when that happens as well. Meanwhile, put your thinking cap on!
