Innovative Debuts “Open Library Stack” | IUG 2015

Kicking off the 23rd annual Innovative Users Group (IUG) conference on April 14–16 in Minneapolis, officials from Innovative Interfaces announced that the company’s new Mobile Worklists app is now available in the Apple iOS app store. Version 1.0 of the new app enables librarians to use tablets and mobile devices to create and track lists of materials, scan barcodes with their device’s camera, and share lists in the Sierra Library Services Platform (LSP) for real-time updating and editing. More importantly, as the first product developed with Innovative’s multi-tenant, cloud-based “Open Library Stack” (OLS) infrastructure, Mobile Worklists marks a milestone for Innovative.

Nashville’s Limitless Libraries Hopes to Merge School and Public Library ILS

Limitless Libraries, an ongoing partnership between Nashville Public Library (NPL) and Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), is planning a move to a shared ILS system, and has requested funding for the transition from the office of Nashville’s mayor.

Colorado Library Consortium, SkyRiver Partnership Offers Bibliographic Services to Small Libraries

The Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC) recently announced an agreement with library automation software provider Innovative Interfaces to make SkyRiver bibliographic services available to libraries throughout the state. SkyRiver will facilitate a comprehensive audit of CLiC’s AspenCat union catalog, and ultimately, will offer the consortium’s 400 libraries a source of cataloging records.

Innovative Interfaces Founder Sells Remaining Interest in Company to Private Equity

Jerry Kline, founder of Innovative Interfaces, the third largest North American library automation company in terms of revenue, sold his remaining shares in the company to private equity firms Huntsman Gay Global Capital and JMI Equity, which now fully own the company.

Innovative Interfaces Announces Plans to Integrate DPLA into Encore, and Launches Decision Center

Innovative Interfaces Inc. today announced a new development initiative that will integrate access to the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) into its Encore Synergy platform. Separately, the company announced today that its Decision Center collection management solution has been implemented at several public and academic libraries, including Jefferson County Public Library (CO), Tulsa City-County Library (OK), and University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

Innovative Interfaces Names Kim Massana CEO

Innovative Interfaces, developer of the Sierra Services Platform, the Millennium ILS, and other library technology solutions, has announced the appointment of Kim Massana as the company’s new chief executive officer. Co-founder, Chairman and CEO Jerry Kline will remain in his role as chairman. Massana was previously president of Thomson Reuters Elite, a division of the global news organization that provides integrated information solutions to professional services firms in the legal, accounting, marketing, management, and IT consulting fields.

Ebook Providers, ILS Vendors Move Rapidly to Remove Friction From E-Lending; OverDrive APIs Coming in April | PLA 2012

Even as anxious publishers are hoping to increase friction in the ebook lending experience, librarians have been clamoring for vendors of integrated library systems (ILS) to make e-lending a unified, sleek experience. Rather than navigating their patrons away from the library’s web presence to Balkanized, often commercial, third-party platforms, each with a different discovery and delivery experience, librarians have been demanding a single, easy-to-use, easy-to-search platform — an integration of the ILS with ebook vendor platforms.
