Mosio, makers of the Text a Librarian mobile reference service, recently announced the launch of Mobile PRM, a set of new features which let libraries send out text-message alerts and announcements to subscriber lists or individual patrons who have opted in.

OverDrive Answers Criticism About Catalog Disparities

OverDrive has offered a rebuttal to recent criticism that it may not be providing the same catalog of material to all the libraries in its network. The Cleveland-based vendor said in a blog post on Monday that “under the permissions set by authors and publishers, 99.9% of US public libraries served by OverDrive have access to the exact same catalog of eBook, audiobook, music, and video titles.”

Distributor Baker & Taylor today announced that it has acquired Glasgow, Scotland-based company Bridgeall Libraries, the maker of CollectionHQ collection development software-as-a-service for libraries. Terms were not disclosed.

EBSCO Unveils Android App

EBSCO released a free Android version of its EBSCOhost app this week, following on its iPhone/iPad app, which was released in March. The app lets users access EBSCOhost content on both Android phones and tablets.

IMLS Seeks Feedback on Digital Inclusiveness Framework
